Vellore district (in Tamil Nadu State) is bound by Andhra Pradesh State towards its North, Thiruvannamalai district (Tamil Nadu) in the South, Tiruvallur district in the North East, Kancheepuram district in the South East while Krishnagiri district in the Southwest. Major towns in the district are Ambur, Arcot, Wallajapet, Arakonam, Jolarpet and Sholinghur.
