Sripuram Golden Temple
Sripuram Temple is situated around 6 kms. from Vellore city, on National Highway NH-46 (connecting Chennai-Bangalore (Bangaluru) and on National Highway NH-4 (connecting Ranipet-Bangalore). It took 6 years to complete the construction of the temple. 400 gold and copper smiths came over from Tirupathi Thirumala Devasthanam and showed their deftness and art. The deity of Mahalakshmi is made up of granite and placed in the sanctum sanctorum of 'Sripuram' or spiritual park.
The temple is spread over 100 acres and constructed by Sri Narayani Peeda. The chief spiritual master Sri Sakthi Amma also known as Narayani Amma heads the temple. The temple is covered with gold layering and looks much like the golden temple of Amritsar (Punjab).
To reach the temple, you have to walk on the star-shaped path or sri chakra. All along the path, spiritual messages from Sri Sakthi amma and other religious faiths have been displayed. These quotations from Gita, Quaran and Bible have great impact on visitors and can steer their belief towards living life piously and compassionately.
Sri Narayani Peedam also runs a general hospital near this temple - Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre, along with a home for orphans and a school.
