Jalakandeswarar TempleThis temple is built at the centre of a tank and comprises of Agazhi - beautiful water fencing! Idols of Lord Vishnu with Mahalakshmi, Lord Brahma with Saraswati, Lord Shiva with Parvathi adorn the temple. You will like to see the old well from which water is drawn for 'abhishekam', the revolving lamp' (you can ask for a wish!), kalyana mandapam and navshakti jyothi along with Nakshatra Deep.

Sri Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy Temple at Singiri KoilSingiri Koil is 25 kms. from Vellore where there is a shrine of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha which is believed to be 1,000 years old! The temple rests on top of a hillock (80 feet high) and you have to climb 50 steps to reach this temple. There is a one foot high idol of Sri Lord Anjaneya too.
Sripuram Golden TempleThe golden temple looks like you are entering a heavenly abode! Do not miss the lighted hue of the temple in the evening. This temple is dedicated to Mahalakshmi. The temple has gold covering and intricate designs done up in gold. You have to walk along a star shaped path before you reach the temple. This path is lined with nice and inspiring quotes from religious texts. Near the temple, there is Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre.

Sri Margabandeeswarar Temple
In this temple, the main deity is swayambumurthi in a leaning form. There is a Rudraksha roof above the Sanctum sanctorum. The temple was built by Chola kings in the 13th century. According to history, the temple was built by Chola kings in 13th Century. Devotees come here to ask boon for child birth. This place has a thousand 'shivlingas'. Maintenance is very good although it is believed to be 500-1000 years old! The temple is 15 kms. from Vellore.

Mosques, Gurudwaras and Churches in Vellore150-year-old St. John's Church inside fort premises and Assumption Cathedral are two famous churches in Vellore. Then there is the Big Mosque at the centre of the city which runs the largest Arabic college in the country. There is just one Gurudwara in Vellore known as Gurudwara Sri Singh Sahab. The mosque inside the fort premises is not open to general public. It is being maintained by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India).
