Law is equal for all. This is evident in Vellore by the number of Legal aid clinics and Special courts in the district. Lawyers have tried to reach out to the poor, illiterate and needy by facilitating out-of-court settlements for them which are free of cost, advising them on legal issues and writing petitions for them. Vellore police too keeps vigil in implementing laws and implicating law offenders.

There are eleven panchayats in Vellore block which have been opened by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). These include Venkatapuram, Alamelu Mangapuram, Sekkanur, Perumugai, Abdullapuram, Melmonavoor, Keezhmonavoor, Karugambuthur, Anpoondi, Ussoor and Palamathi.
Timings: 2 p.m. -6 p.m.
In such legal aid clinics, there is a lawyer and a volunteer who provide legal assistance such as writing petitions, giving legal opinion on any dispute or purchase of land --- free of cost! They try to arrive at a solution, otherwise the case is referred to DLSA again which tries for out-of-court settlement. However, if this does not work, then the matter is taken to the court. The legal aid clinic gives a decree which has the effect of judgement of the court.
