Electricity in Vellore

The supply of electricity in Vellore is done by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). Vellore city and the suburbs constitute Vellore Electricity Distribution Circle. TNEB was formed on July 1, 1957 for distribution of energy throughout the state. However, as per requirements of the Electricity Act 2003, a holding company 'TNEB Ltd.' was established along with subsidiary companies Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd. and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd.



TNEB was restructured on November1, 2010 and three separate corporations were formed. The three corporations are as follows:
