Vellore is replete with professional medical and technological colleges and has immense manpower for small scale industries burgeoning everyday in this small municipal town. Ltd. - MICs (Microsoft Innovation Centers) in Vellore, Trichy, Coimbatore, Madhurai and Salem will keep aloft the economy graph of this region.

37% of the leather goods exported by India have been supplied from Vellore! There are more of small scale industries in this region. Financial capital and subsidies from the government and infrastructural support have gone a long way to support industrialization in the district.

Proximity to Bengaluru and Chennai has also led to Information Technology taking roots here too in terms of educational institutions, e-governance and in government offices for more streamlined functioning. It is no surprise then that Vellore city has Vellore Association of Information Technology (VAIT) in order to encourage after-sales support, conducting exhibitions and seminars. It organizes  the annual 'The Great Vellore Bazaar' fair in October to showcase modern technological development in various fields.
